Trees have always provided shade. Now they provide carbon income.

Working Trees™ provides an easy way to measure and sell the carbon stored in the trees you plant on pasture. Our technology uses data collected through a smartphone and satellite imagery to allow landowners of any acreage to finally get paid for storing carbon.

Tour a silvopasture farm

What is silvopasture? Why should I implement it on my land?

Silvopasture is the smart integration of trees with pasture land. Planting trees on pasture land can:

  1. Increase animal weight gain through access to shade

  2. Maintain forage quantity while increasing quality

  3. Improve soil health

  4. Create habitat for wildlife

  5. Sequester 10 times as much carbon in biomass as land that has no trees

In other words, these trees are working for you, your animals, and the planet.

How do I make money from carbon?

Large corporations have set long-term “net-zero” goals: commitments to remove the same amount of carbon dioxide as they emit. To do this, they pay entities to plant trees on their pasture land, and give them a payment per ton of carbon dioxide sequestered by those trees.

For years, small landowners were left out of because of a lack of a simple and affordable approach for measuring carbon. Working Trees™ is committed to changing that - and democratizing access to carbon markets for landowners of any size.

So what exactly do we do?

Working Trees™ works directly with landowners like you to make the transition to silvopasture as simple as possible. We do this through:

  1. Analyzing your farm’s current operations

  2. Connecting you with a technical service provider who can provide regionally-specific advice (as needed)

  3. Finding private and government funding sources to cover the upfront cost of implementing silvopasture

  4. Monitoring ongoing carbon storage, translating to a steady annual stream of revenue once established (often higher than cash rental rates)

With our help, farmers like you can focus on what you do best — running your operation. Working Trees™ handles the rest.

What Our Farmers are Saying

“We’re looking forward to partnering with the Working Trees team to transform our operation, improve production, and create a new, steady revenue stream from carbon.

“At Lick Skillet Farm, carbon sequestration has long been on the sidelines, as a secondary business goal. As our farm begins its fourth intergenerational transfer, we want to bring it to the center. The Southeast is blessed with plentiful sunshine, rain, and arable topsoil -- ideal for natural sequestration. With a mixed-species herd and sophisticated grazing management as our primary tools, we believe we can speed the process of sequestration beyond the normal rate.” - Wyn Miller, Lick Skillet Farm
